 Statement

I am an Artist and Art Psychotherapist. My paintings are informed by thought, memory, everyday objects and ephemera. I am interested in visual metaphor and the relationship between physical ritual and visual noticing. Words increasingly influence my work and vice versa; I write poetry and memoir often in the form of ekphrasis in response to the subjects within my paintings, subjects most often inanimate and based in unconscious thought. I have a BA in Fine Art: 1987 and an MA in Art Psychotherapy: 2012.  My Art Therapy training and experience also influence my work. I am a member of The Artist Art Therapist Collective https://winnicottwednesdays.weebly.com and have completed 2 years of The Turps Banana correspondence course 2019-2022. I currently work for the charity Studio Upstairs as a Studio Manager and offer coaching to Artists.
